Note: 1 THOMAS FARMER - IMMIGRANT ANCESTOR b. 1586 or 1594 No record of him after 1624 except that he was a member of the House of Burgesses 1629-30. 2 Henry Farmer had these sons: 3 Benjamin, 3 Thomas, 3 John, 3 William and 3 Henry II. 2 Henry Farmer I and his sons lived in the eastern part of Chesterfield Co. on Proctor's Creek near Farrars Island. Due to the changing of the counties in VA, the records of 1 Thomas Farmer's descendants are Henrico Co. records until 1749, then they are Chesterfield records for the Farmers lived across the James River from Farrars Island in the part of Henrico Co. that became Chesterfield Co.
Birth: 1594 in England
Note: Thomas Farmer was born in England in 1594. He immigrated to America in 1616 aboard the TRYALL (K-229, L-95) and was listed in the muster roll of the inhabitants of YE NECK OF LAND, 16 Feb 1623 (K-225, 238) and again 24 Feb 1624 (K-228), at which latter date he gave his age as 30 (K-229). He was a member of the House of Burgesses from THE PLANTATIONS OF THE COLLEDGE LAND AND THE NECK OF LAND in the General Assembly of 1629-1630 (K-241, L-92, 148, 226). Thomas Farmer seems to have been the first of the name in Virginia, but whether or not he married and left children is not known. It is his age of 25 in 1619 that suggests the possibility of his being the father of Robert who was born that year. - Danville, VA Genealogy Library.
I found a Thomas Farmer who owned one of the First Land Grants on Bushy Fork and Double Creek in what is now Person Co., NC. This County is just over the line between VA and NC.
