    On Sunday afternoon of last week, a large concourse of friends and neighbors met to pay their last dues of respect to an old and respected lady of this place, Mrs. James Iliff. The deceased had been ailing for some months past, and finally, on
    the morning of the 6th inst, she passed away, in her 67th year. The funeral services were conducted at the Baptist Church. Rev. Charles Jones officiating.
  • Note:
    Mrs. Iliff's death was preceeded by that of her husband, which occurred on December 15th, 1884. He was her senior by 9 years. They sleep side by side in the Southeast Cemetery, only to be awakened on that morn when all must appear before the
    great Judge of mankind. Thus we are reminded from time to time that this tabernacle must be dissolved and this earth is not our abiding place.

    Their daughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Shope who resided about a mile away, had the full charge of caring for the aged couple, in which they did their duty. They request your correspondent to tender thanks in their behalf to the
    neighbors and friends for their willingness to extend a helping hand during the dark hours of their tribulation.
