    Abraham served in the Cherokee War under Col. George Gabrie l Powell. He
    also served in the Revolutionary War in the militia under G en. Marian and
    others. He served in the War of 1812 as a Captain, 7th Regi ment, Perkins
    Battalion of Mississippi Militia. Abraham moved with his wi fe Desire to
    Mississippi in 1808 having a Georgia passport to cross th e Creek Nation
    dated Friday, 4, Nov. 1808.
    During the American Revolution, Abraham Roberts II, serve d for 84 days under General Francis Marion's Brigade. For t his service he was authorized payment of five pounds, twelv e shillings sterling on August 3, 1784. On June 23, 1785 , he was paid thirty pounds, thirteen shillings, and eigh t pence farthing sterling for militia duty and for making 1 8 swords. Abraham subsequently wrote on the back of Inden t #243, "I assign over all my rights and title to the withi n indent, both principal and interest to John Brown, havin g received full satisfaction for the same, as witness my ha nd this 23 day of July 1785." Signed: Abraham Roberts. O n January 26, 1786, Abraham Roberts was paid "one shillin g and six pence for one year's interest on the sum of one p ound, one shilling and nine pence sterling for the care o f a
    Negroe' man named Hesick, belonging to Charles Fledger." Th e certificate authorized further payment on January 26, 178 8, the principal sum of one pound, one shilling, three penc e upon demand by Abraham Roberts or his executors. A note a ttached to Indent #946-Y reads: "Sir, please deliver to Jo hn McKee all of the indents that should be due me by the pu blic, as I have received full payment for the same,... an d you will oblige, your obedt servt."     After the Revolution, Abraham II, obtained 99 acres thro ugh a land plat issued on March 7, 1785, in the District o f Georgetown. This land was on the northeast side of the P ee Dee River of South Carolina, located close to the Bostic k Landing near the town of Gresham. Landowners adjacent t o this plat were Ebenezer Dunnom and William Davis. Abraha m Roberts II lived in the area for a number of years as h e and his family are on both the 1790 and the 1800 census r eports. On July 13, 1807, Abraham applied for and was ap proved to claim 320 acres of public land on Beaver Creek i n Amite County of what was then the Mississippi Territory . He must have made at least one trip to the Mississippi T erritory to apply for and claim his land, but then probabl y returned to South Carolina to get his family as they appa rently did not move from South Carolina to the Mississipp i Territory until 1808. He was granted a passport by the Go vernor of Georgia on Friday, November 4, 1808, and authoriz ed to travel with his family through the Creek Nation for t he purposes of settling in the Mississippi Territory. Attes ting to his good character was Richard Jowell.
