"I, WILLIAM MURDOCH, of the city of London, Merchant , considering the great uncertainty of life?dispose of my worldly affairs as justice, gratitude and friendship dictate". "I desire to be buried in such Protestant burying ground as may be most convenient to the place of my decease and that my funeral may be conducted with the smallest intention". I give and bequeath to: my brother, Benjamin MURDOCH of Frederick County, State of Maryland. my niece Eleanor POTTS, widow of Richard Potts late of Frederick Town in the State of Maryland and daughter of my late brother George MURDOCH, deceased. my niece Ann POTTS (wife of Richard Potts <Junior> of Frederick Town and sister of the said Eleanor Potts). The children of my niece Harriet TYLER deceased, the late wife of Dr. William Bradley Tyler of Frederick Town. my nephews and nieces, children of my late sister Barbara BRUCE deceased, formerly the wife of Andrew Bruce of Allegany County in the State of Maryland. George MURDOCH and John MURDOCH sons of my nephew George William Murdoch late [deceased] of Frederick Town Maryland my godson Thomas CLAGETT of London, Merchant and also Mary Clagett, Virginia Clagett, Horace Clagett, George Clagett, Frederick Clagett, William Clagett, Emmy Clagett, Lavinia Clagett and Sarah Clagett, the nine brothers and sisters of the said Thomas Clagett as a mark of my regard for them and of the great respect and esteem I had for their father and mother. "And it would have gratified me greatly if I could have done more than ten times as much
    for them all, but my circumstances are limited considering the great number of relations who have claims on me and above all the high and very strong claim on me on the part of the children and grandchildren of my eldest and deceased brother George Murdoch to whom
    I was greatly indebted for nearly all I now possess and under this conviction, as well as in consideration of the great affection I always had for him, I feel it a duty to do all I can for his family.
