Note: Jackson Sentinel, Thursday, October 29, 1891 Two of Farmers Creek's best and most beloved women passed away on Thursday, Oct. 15, Mrs. Martha Sutton and Mrs. Tacy Teeters - mother and daughter. The former, aged 87 years, died at about 1 p.m. at the home of her son-in-law, John S. Thompson, and the latter, aged 70 years, died of pneumonia at about 6 p.m. at her home in New Castle. The remains of Mrs. Sutton were taken to the late home of her daughter, where the two bodies lay in state to await the last sad rites performed by loving friends. They were among the old settlers and were always ready with a helping hand to wait upon the sick or to do little acts of kindness to smooth life's pathway for their fellow beings. The funeral services were held at the house at 3 p.m. Friday and the remains laid to rest in the Teeters cemetery, J.W. Said officiating.
