Good Afternoon.
I have just seen your information on roots web and wondered if you knew the father of Pearly Arnold. I have ben researching the Upton family as Thomas & Sarah are my direct ancestors. On looking through the Local Gazette last Sat I notices an rntry for a Sydney Roland John Upton and it proved to be very interesting. He was being taken to court for non maintence of his illigitmate child by Elizabeth Arnold and was ordered to pay 7/6 per week.
Sydney Roland John Upton was the son of John Upton and Mary Ann Pye born 30/7/1871 in Windsor as well as having Pearly he had 7 or 8 children to Nellie Hennesy/Hennessey the eldest born 1893 he did not marry Nellie until 9 days before her death in Windsor and the children were baptised Hennessy. Later some used the name Upton Nellie died 14/11/1908 and he then married Eliza Young He died 1910.

23rd September 1893 Windsor Police Court.
At Windsor Police Court on Friday before Messrs W. H. H. Becke PM & J Primrose JP, Sydney Upton of Pitt Town was order to contribute 7/6 per week to the support of his illegimate child, Elizabeth Arnold being the mother, Mr Paine for the complainant.

30th September 1893 Windsor Police Court.
Sydney Upton was charged with neglecting to contribute towards the support of his illegimate child, Elizabeth Arnold being the mother.
Mr Paine appeared for the complainant
Defendant said he had not been able to pay the amount of 7/6 per week as he had been out of work. The bench ordered the defendant to pay the amount weekly to the Snr Sergeant of Police at Windsor. Costs of Court 6/6 and 21/- professional costs.
