  • Note:
Edwin was my Grt Grand mother?s full brother and was apparently born in Topsham, Devon. He was a very bright student and went on to become Headmaster of the British School at Abingdon, Berkshire, England. He was a keen experimenter and photographer in the early days of photography. The school was a private school ? that is not a government funded school. School building long gone and no trace exists. We have contact with descendants of the Gubb family in England and surprisingly the daughter of one of them is presently a teacher at a school in Abingdon. Edwin?s son was named Seymour Jackson Gubb ? the Jackson apparently in honour of his brother-in-law. We have a lot of information on the Gubb family ? many of them migrated to New Zealand and we have contact with some of them. My Grandfather Thomas Bernard Jackson was educated at his uncle?s school in Abingdon..
