  • ID: I25911
  • Name: Robert WALKER
  • Sex: M
  • Birth: ABT 1740 in Forks of the Brandywine, Chester, Pennsylvania
  • Death: AFT 1767 in Franklin, Pennsylvania
  • Burial: Lower Path, Valley, Presbyterian Church Grave Yard, Pennsylvania
  • Military Service: BET 1777 AND 1778 Private under Capt. Noah Abraham
  • Note:
This Robert Walker arrived and settled in Fannet Twp., (Path Valley), Franklin County, in 1767. He came from a Scotch-Irish settlement at Forks of the Brandywine in Chester Co. Parents are unkown. There is also an Alexander Walker who came from the same locale to Fannet Twp. several years earlier and appear's to be Robert's uncle.

These early Walkers lived in Fannet Twp., the same place where Mary Lowry(?) Thorn went after she married Robert Elder. When the children of this Robert Walker moved west to Indiana and Armstrong counties during the 1780's - 1790's, they sold their father's land to the Elders. Both this Robert and our Jennet Walker Thorn named two of their children Robert and Margaret.

Two daughters of a Guthrie family married two brothers of this Walker family about 1850-1860 in neighboring Armstrong County., PA. The Guthrie girls are descended from the Guthrie's who along with Joseph Thorn founded the Poke Run Church. The Walker boys trace back to this Robert.

From the American Revolutionary Soldiers of Franklin County, PA, complied by Virginia Shannon Fendick:

Deeds show Robert Walker of Fannet Twp., granted 100 acres of land in 1767. "We, Mary Calhoon, late Mary Walker, widow of Robert Walker, decd., - James Colhoun her present husband:" also Benjamin; Margaret; Alexander; Samuel: David White and Mary his wife; James; Robert; Abraham; all children of Robert Walker, decd., sell to John Elder, James Elder, Robert Elder, and Isabella Campbell, issue of Robert Elder of Metal Twp. The above sale was acknowledged by Robert Walker's heirs, Oct. and Nov., 1810 from Armstrong and Indiana Counties, Penna.
    Penna. Arch. 5th Ser. Vol 6, p 18, 19, 21, 52, 53, 139, 141, 516.
