The Bowies originated in MD, then some moved to PA. The Gundlachs, Herrs & Ricks settled in Illinois and Missouri. Meyers & Wagners arrived in Iowa. Ryans & Costellos in California. Then they all dispersed. All the information I have is posted in this tree. I do not have anything else about any of these ancestors*.

  • Note: The Kranichstein Castle was built by Landgrave Georg I. i n 1578 as a hunting lodge. The Stadtkirche, mentioned fo r the first time as "Church of our Blessed Lady" in 1369, s till incorporates remaining parts of the original buildin g dating from about 1330. Landgrave Georg I chose the chur ch, which meanwhile had achieved the status of a City Churc h, as burial place of his house and had the vaults under th e choir reconstructed for this purpose. Worth seeing is th e 9-metre-high alabaster epitaph which Georg I ordered in 1 587 to be set up in memory of his first wife Magdalena of L ippe.
