  • Name: Elizabeth [Durant]
  • Name: Elizabeth Wade
  • Sex: F
  • Change Date: 18 DEC 2013
  • Death: 11 DEC 1725 in Lyme, New London, CT
  • Note: "Barbour notes that the maiden name of Durant appears as a handwritten correction to the original record. Some have concluded that the entry was a confusion of George's mother's maiden name, which was also Elizabeth Durant. However the 1720 deed noted below [Lyme Deeds, 2:340] indicates that land was laid out to George Wade in his own and his wife's right to the rights of George Durant, suggesting that both George and Elizabeth were grandchildren of George Durant. The only [other] grandchildren of George Durant surnamed Durant would be children of his only son, Edward. According to undocumented Internet sources, Edward married his wife Ann in Middletown, Connecticut. However, he and Ann were living in Boston by 1692 when births of their children were first recorded there." (Richard H. Benson, The Nicholas Wade Family [Boston: Newbury Street Press, 2012], 208, footnote 1681)
