OBITUARY: Glennis Roy Stidam, 78, of Beckley, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, May 30, 2007, after an extended illness. Born June 8, 1928, at Herndon, he was the son of the late Dewey and Nettie Williams Stidam. Mr. Stidam spent his early childhood in Kentucky and West Virginia. He was a retired coal mine electrician, having worked for Slab Fork Coal Co. and U.S. Steel. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Mr. Stidam was a member of Jones Memorial Baptist Church in Beckley, where he served on the deacon board, Board of Trustees, finance committee and advisory board. He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Ethel; an infant brother, Larry; sisters, Shirley Bolen, Earnie Conley, Betty McClure and Bea Lane; and a stepson, Bobby Williams. Those left to mourn his passing are his loving wife of 42 years, Sophia Williams Stidam; a son, Jimmy Ray Stidam and wife, Katsu, of Tokyo, Japan; seven sisters, Ruth Wilson of Michigan, Faye Helton of Tennessee, Elsie McClure of Florida, Mabel Conley of Ohio, Brenda Whalen of Virginia, Hazel Gordon of Virginia and Vernie Conley of Ohio; three grandchildren, Sherri Lee Stidam, B.J. Will-iams Jr. and Kacy Lee Will-iams; and several nieces and nephews. Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, Beckley, with Dr. Rick Metrick officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Danny Lusk, Steve Fox, Denny Cook, Jimmy Quesenberry, Skip Cole, William Bozarth, Ron Ellison and Barry Lester. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Richard, Fred Quesenberry, Junior Lilly and Eugene Lusk. (, Beckley, West Virginia, 1 Jun 2007).
