    OCCUPATION: railroad, laying tracks (1932-1936) and brakeman (1936-1943); mines - laying track; retired from the railorad

    MILITARY: 247th US Army Air Corps, Private 1st Class, 25 Jan 1943-13 Oct 1945. Entered the service on Feb 2 1943 at Abingdon VA. He was a Railway Brakeman living in Tacoma at the time of his induction. His military occupation was Duty Soldier, and he was classified a Carbine Sharpshooter. He served as Charge of Quarters for housing men and following set routines in arranging combat crews for briefings. Transferred on April 1, 1944 to the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater. He fought in the following battles: Rome-Arno, North Appennines, Po Valley, Southern France, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Central Europe, Air Offensive Europe and Air Combat Balkin. Returned to the U.S. May 15 1945 and was discharged Oct 13 1945 at Patterson Field OH.
