    OBITUARY: Mary Margaret [6215] Stidham Schnapka, 84, passed into the loving arms of our Lord on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at the Haven Hospice E. T. York Care Center in Gainesville, Florida. She departed this life peacefully and in the presence of her loving family. She had been a resident of Cocoa Beach, Florida since 1972 but had lived in Gainesville for the past 7 years. She was born in the family home in Clayton, Illinois and after high school graduation moved to St Louis, Missouri where she worked for the Veterans Administration. In 1953 she married Gerardo J. Schnapka and moved to Lima, Peru and later to Brussels, Belgium. Returning to the United States she enjoyed many successes as a talented sales person and was the recipient of numerous professional awards. Her greatest attributes were her friendly manner and her genuine kindness, respect and caring of those she came in contact with both personally and professionally. Her proudest achievement was raising her children, Ricky Schnapka of Oak Park, California and Marita Schnapka Jacobs of Gainesville, Florida, and always felt they were a big part of her success. She fulfilled her desire and love of traveling by visiting and exploring all seven continents. After retiring from the State of Florida and moving to Gainesville, she enjoyed many joyful days with her two granddaughters, Nichole and Danielle Jacobs. She is preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Omer Edwin [3250] Stidham, and Margaret "Maggie" Omer Stidham and her two brothers, Omer Edwin "Jack" Stidham [TSS founding member DCM-3] and Lemuel Otto Stidham- Surviving family members include her son-in-law, Larry Jacobs, daughter-in-law, Ruthie Schnapka, many loving nephews, nieces, cousins and friends around the world. Her presence and love of life will never be forgotten. (Gainesville Sun, August 23, 2009)
