This Cornelius Stedham (b. c1800, New Jersey) is probably the son of Cornelius [80] Stedham (b. 1748 in Delaware or New Jersey). Cornelius [80] Stedham's brother, Zachariah [78] Stedham, was married in Penns Neck, New Jersey in 1764. Their father, Erasmus [30] Stedham, moved to Penns Neck by 1739. This is the most likely Stedham family to have been in New Jersey in 1800.

Name listed as Cornelius Stedman, father of George Stedman - ref. International Genealogical Index, FamilySearch.org (Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints).

Note: The Texas Department of Health, Bureau of Vital Statistics Certificate of Death for George K. Stedham (a grandson), State File No. 11669. Certificate of Death lists parents as Cornelius Stedham (b. Pennsylvania) and Lucretia McLemare (b. Mississippi). (Researched by Nora Smith--nora31-at-aol,com--email dated 3 Apr 2007) This is a mistake, as Geroge K. Stedham's father was George Stedham. Cornelius Stedham was most likely George's grandfather.

    He was probably the "Cornielius Stidham" (b. 1800-1810) listed in the 1830 Christiana Hundred, New Castle Co., Delaware census. He was listed with a female (b. 1790-1800), a male (b. 1800-1810), 2 males (b. 1810-1815), a male (b. 1815-1820), and a female (b. 1820-1825).

He was probably the "Cornelius Seedham" age 49 (b. c1800, New Jersey) listed in the 1850 Yell Co., Arkansas census (Lower Fourche Twp.)--enumerated with Samuel Wells (age 39, b. Tennessee). Also in the household were: Catherine Knoll (age 70, b. unk) and Margaret Heard (age 18, b. Arkansas). Yell County is 2 counties from Crawford County where David Wayne [314b] Stidham bought a cemetery plot in 1853.
