It is believed by some Kiger researchers that John Adam Geiger Sr was born in the Kraichgau region of Germany and immigrated to America in 1752 aboard the Phoenix. John Adam Sr. married Maria Margaretha Fiedler possibly in PA, daughter of Gottfried Fiedler (1715-1754) and moved to NC by 1770. Although John Adam Kiger was a Lutheran, he was closely associated with the Moravians. In 1778 Adam Geiger/Kiger donated 102 acres (located in present day Rural Hall NC) to the Nazareth Evangelical Lutheran Church. The church was soon erected and served the community for 94 years. (This church was sometimes called Beaver Dam Church, Fessler's Church and eventually came to be known as Nazareth Lutheran Church. In 1863 the congregation sold 92 acres to John W. Bostick. In 1878 the present church was built and is still serving the community. A great many of the Kigers listed below are buried in the Nazareth Lutheran Graveyard.

    Will of Adam Geiger

In the name of God, Amen. I, Adam Geiger, being old and of sound mind and memory, blessed in God, do make this my last will in manner and form following:
I will that all kitchen and household furniture, bedding and clothing, besides her own bed and her own clothes which she now has, shall belong to my daughter Gertraud forever after my wife's decease, she having lived with us without pay. But if my wife survives me, then all the above Household furniture, bedding and clothing, is to remain for her use. and after her decease it all belongs to my said daugher. My home plantation, containing 325 A. in two deeds, with all the improvements, I give to my dear wife, Mary Margaret, for, and during her natural life. But if she
hath departed this life before me, or after her decease, my will is that said land shall be sold by my executors, or
the survivors of them, by public or private sale with power to convey the land to the purchaser. The 102 A. of
land granted to me and Jacob Petrie in trust for the Lutheran society belongs to said society and not to my private
estate. All the other estate, both real and personal, not here above devised, shall likewise be sold by public sale.
All the proceeds from my estate in the sale thereof shall be divided in the following manner: My granddaughter,
Catharina Moser, shall receive one-twentieth part of the whole when she is 21 years old, until which time her
share shall be put on interest for her use. It she does not live that long her share shall go to my other estate. The
rest of the proceeds, after deducting the above one-twentieth part, shall be equally divided among my children or
their heirs, so that the children of my daughter, Christena, shall have equal share with my children then living.

I appoint my friends, John Spies and Philip Kiser, executors of this my last will and testament, and do hereby
revoke all former wills by me.

    Witness my hand and seal,

    Adam Geiger

(This will recorded in Book 3, page 155, in Wills of Stokes County, Danbury,
From personal correspondance with a descendent of Simon Levi Jackson Kiger through John Joe Jackson Kiger, I have from the Moravian Diary that in 1770 a child of Adam Geiger and wife Margaretha was baptized. At the time they were living in Rowan County, four miles from the Moravian Town of Bethania, at the head of Beaver Dam Creek. Also from same
correspondance (Grant book 2, page 232-3, State of North Carolina, No. 1326, Surry County) that "in 1790 Adam Geiger
and Jacob Petree paid an entrance fee for the 102 acres of land for the Lutheran Church." Also "at Dobson, Surry County,
there is recorded a state grant to Adam Geiger of 250 acres lying in the county of Surry on both sides of Beaver's Dam Creek,
beginning at a hickory on Lashe's line, September 20, 1779." This would have been Adam, Sr., as Adam, Jr. was born about
1771. Does this correspond to information you have?-Kathy Geiger
