    Princess of Deheubarth. In 1109, her kinsman, Owen ap Cadugan, almost in her husband’s presence, carried her and her two sons and daughter by Gerald off. She became known as “the Helen of Wales.” The sons were later returned to their father. This was considered an insult not only to Gerald, but also to Henry I, whose steward and friend he was. Clearly she was a woman of great charm and beauty, and she had many lovers.
