    WILL BOOK 5 (1824-1827), P. 193, SAMUEL SCOTT..... 17 November, 1821/11 Jul., 1825....(Original probate of will contest ed on 15 August, 1822 and will finally probated on 11 July 1825.) Wife Ann Scott one half of my estate for life includ ing land in Bedford County, called the Ivy Creek Tract which is hereby delivered to my son, Samuel Scott. Daughter Agn es W. Gordon. Samuel M. Scott and John M. Gordon for the support of my daughter Belinda R. Moseley. On 15 Mar 1817 , I and my wife conveyed to Beverly R. Scott and Patrick S. Scott 250 acres of land in Bedford County, on Cheese Cree k and bounded by Benjamin Wiggington, George Cabell and the other for the support of my daughter Alphine B. Rose. Daugh ter Mary Ann Standard Scott a lot on Main Street in Lynchburg adjoining the lots of John Lynch and William Radford. Da ughter Emily W. Burton slaves now in the possession of my son in law Patrick P. Burton. Grandson Philip Burton, an infa nt son of my foresaid daughter, and granddaughter Emily Burton. Granddaughters Ann B. Gordon and Louisa P. Gordon. So n Beverly R. Scott land in Bedford County, and Campbell County, called Blankenship's Tract which was conveyed to him b y deed dated 20 November 1818. Son Samuel M. Scott the tract called Blackwater heretofore conveyed to him to be sold a long with a lot and house in Lynchburg. Exors: John M. Gordon, Beverly R. Scott and Samuel M. Scott. Wit: Jesse L . Perry, Daniel Oglesby and William M. Bowling.

    According to GENEALOGY OF VIRGINIA FAMILIES, Vol. 3, 1981. (From "Tyler's Quarterly Historical and Genealogical Magazi ne, Pinkethman-Tyler): Gives date of will being recorded as August 15, 1822 and states that he married Ann Roy . Gives children also. Calls Samuel the son of Thomas Scott, of Caroline.
