In Reply to: Thomas Van Swearingen b. ca 1763 - leave will? by Doug Schneider of 2904

Thomas Swearingen's will is found in Montgomery Co, MD, docket 2, folio 7, dated 8 Apr 1806, final account administere d 17 Oct 1814, wife Elisabeth administrator. These children were named in the estate packet (estate of Thos Swearingen , the record states there were seven children, ?Viz Susan, Thomas, Ruth, Elizabeth, Levy, Elemelech, and Bennett.?

    His line....Gerret, Thomas, John, Thomas

Thomas, father of Thomas who died in 1806, was at one time confused with Thomas Van Swearingen. Thomas SWEARINGEN (Gerr et, Thomas, John) was born 23 Sep 1728, Queen Annes Parish, Prince Georges Co, MD, and died Oct 1794. He married (1) c a 1750, Ruth Beall. Thomas married (2) ca 1777, Mary _____. Mary Swearingen died 28 Jun 1836 in Nicholas Co, Kentucky . I do not believe this Thomas was married to Mary Baker. Two Thomas' were born in MD about the same time and were firs t cousins...Thomas Swearingen lived in Montgomery Co, records there....and Thomas VAN Swearingen lived in Washington Co , records there. It was Thomas VAN Swearingen, son of Van Swearingen and Elizabeth Walker, who was deeded 150 acres i n Washington Co, MD, in Isaac Baker's will proved 15 Mar 1793. Isaac was Mary's father. The two Thomas' both married wo men named Mary, hence the confusion.
