  • ID: I5327
  • Reference Number: 5327
  • Name: Abner COOK 1
  • Sex: M
  • Change Date: 20 OCT 2008
  • Note: There is a good possibility that Abner is not the son of Walter Cook. In his 1880 census he stated his parents were born in MD VA, yet in his 1900 census there were born in KY and PA. This does not match any other supposed Walter's children's censuses
  • Birth: 25 JUN 1815 in Jefferson County, OH 1 2 3
  • Death: 08 JUN 1904 in Republican City, NE
  • Note:
    as reported in his obituary:

"Abner Cook was born in Ohio 89 years ago, June 25th 1815, and grew to manhood there. Was married to Emily Pyles in 1835 and moved to Iowa with his family thirteen years later where they lived until eleven years ago they came to Nebraska. He died June 8th at the home of his daughter, Mrs. B. F. Ryun. His wife preceeded him to the great hereafter by ten years, since which time he has lived with his children. Of the ten children born to them five survive; they are Mrs. B. F. Ryun, Mrs. B. F. Savely and James Cook of this place; Mrs Ellen Parrott of Olympia, Wash. and David Cook of Oskaloosa, Kas. One sister, Mrs Sarah Hill of Knoxville, Iowa, survives him. His grandchildren number 34 and his great grandchildren 10"
