Note: Note that "The Douglas Registry" gives the birth date of John and Elizabeth's first child and approximates their marriage based on that date since they were not married by Rev. Douglas and the marriage was not recorded by preceding ministers. John's will lists more children than recorded by Rev. Douglas and states his youngest son is William. The author concludes that John was married long before Rev. Douglas listed the "first" child born to him and Elizabeth Connolly, probably when he was about 21 years old around 1741. This is supported by the order of children listed in his will. The last six are in the order of registered birth, thus we might assume the first seven are the same
Probate: 16 JUN 1783 Goochland County, VA
Note: when his will was proved and recorded in court
2
Probate: 25 FEB 1806 Goochland County, VA
Note: when son Connelly acting as administrator for his deceased mother Elizabeth submitted his final settlement and listed 10 legatees for final distribution; Daniel Mullins, Wm Mullins (estate), Rice Ennes, Jesse Clements, James Williams, Anthony Mullins, Maxey Ewell, David Mullins, Jesse Mullins, and Connelly Mullins
3
Probate: 21 OCT 1805 Goochland County, VA
Note: when his administrator Elizabeth recorded the results of his 26 Feb 1805 estate sale. Author recorded this entry on two different occasions, the first he noted that the administrator Elizabeth was deceased. On the second he did not see that she was deceased. It is unlikely the court would have recorded the sale from a dead person so she probably recorded the sale herself

- Title: The Douglas Register
Abbrev: Douglas Register Author: Compiler: Jones, W. Mac Publication: Genealogical Publishing Co., Inc., Baltimore, Maryland, 1977 Note: (Being a detailed record of Births, Marriages and Deaths together with other interesting notes, as kept by the Rev. William Douglas, from 1750 to 1797. [Also] An Index of Goochland Wills. Notes on the French-Huguenot Refugees who lived in Manakin-Town) Repository: Name: Library of Virginia Page: 128 (in chapter of marriages not indicated by register, but based on birth of first child) married before 16 May 1756). The author believes since John and Elizabeth had other children not recorded by Rev. Douglas they most likely were married before Rev. Douglas' service, in fact much earlier, perhaps about 1740 when John would have been about 20
