    Major Discrepancy. Lazarus B. Murdaugh Jr/II is a most difficult person to pin down. Who are his parents? Lazarus B. Murduagh Sr 1774-1830 - OR - Josiah Putnam Murdaugh 1793-1882? Also, the children of his 2 wives, Mary Folk and Mary Ursula Varn, overlap considerably, adding to the confusion. Mary Folk's children's birth dates range from 1837-1853 while Mary U. Varn's children's birth dates range from 1844-1864, with an impossible overlap range of 1844-1853.
    Either the dates of the children are way off - OR - there is a very good possibility that Lazarus B. Murdaugh Jr/II are actually 2 people, born of different parents (e.g., Lazarus B. Murduagh Sr 1774-1830 - OR - Josiah Putnam Murdaugh 1793-1882). If anybody "out there" can settle this situation, please contact me at smears@zianet.com. - George Stephen Mears
