    Cora Slone, 1930 resident of Elcelsior Springs Mo. said: "There was three brothers William, George, and John Slone who came from Ireland to U.S. early in 1700. Their wives were Mary, Ellen, and either Katy or Elizabeth Guthrie. All sisters were Scotch. They settled in Penn. This Wm. Slone was the father of Wm. Slone, the bugler, and the one buried in the Edenton Cemetery...
    Cora Slone also said that her father said his grand-father Wm. Slone, (who was the bugler for Wayne) ran off at twelve years of age and went to join his father Wm. Slone in the revolutionary war and played the bugle. So that would make his grand-father and his great grand-father both revolutionary war soldiers. I have a copy of the record of a Wm. Slone, who was a soldier from Chester County, Penn. under Capt. John Ramsey of Londonderry Company, also Capt. James Clark and Colonel James Taylor, found in Penn. Archives, Volume #5, page #707, Series, #5."

    Note: Is Wm Sloan Sr. listed in the DAR index? The only other Rev. War Wm. Sloan in PA. was the one m. to Francis Nesbit, according to DAR index.

    Bobbie Kent says:"I found from a letter my great-aunt wrote to my only living aunt. The first William Sloan & his brother, John Sloan were born in Tyrone County, Ireland, left there, & worked their passage to New York City on a steamer. At New York City, they were separated somehow & never heard from each other again. This information she received from her father, Joseph Gatch, when he went to Idaho to visit her." {problem here, steam boat had not been invented when his first child was b. in America f.e.m}
