Historical Narrative at: http://www.sloanconnection.com/notable.html#Bigfoot ****** 1783: tax list, 250 acres 1hr 1786: tax list, 3.3 1795, 16 Jul: John Sloan witness for deed between Samuel Kincaid & Campbell/Dennison. 1836: Son Hardy Hill Sloan sold his land to brother David Sloan and mentioned that this was the land "bequeathed to them by their father John Sloan which was bequeathed to him by his father Samuel Sloan." Deed written 1836 but not recorded till 1862. ****** Jun 2007: David S. Christian says:"John W. Jordan, Librarian of the Historical Society of Pennsylvania says in his book "Genealogical and Personal History of the Allegheny Valley of Pennsylvania" on page 745 in Volume 2: "Captain John Sloan, son of Samuel Sloan, was born in Scotland. He was young at the time of his parents' immigration to the colony of Virginia. He was gallant and faithful soldier in the war of the revolution and was captain of a company in a Virginia Regiment. After the close of hostilities he received a large land grant in Pennsylvania from the government, for services rendered in time of war. This land, which was located in Clarion County, he divided into farms for his sons." ****** Looks like kids and grandkids with him in 1830. What happen to all the kids?
