Note: Based on age and location, John might be the brother of Samuel & Alexander of CT that also served in the war. f.e.m. ****** JOHN SLOAN served in the Revolution as a private in Captain Peter Parker's company, a detachment of Gen. Fellow's Berkshire County brigade, and performed duty in Albany under Gen. Stark. He served three months and 22 days before he died in Albany, NY on 22 Oct 1778.
A family bible in the possession of the Sarah Caswell Angell Chapter, DAR in Ann Arbor, MI, contains records of this Sloan family. It is known as the Stratton-Sloan-Chapin family bible, and was published in a 1931 DAR collection of old bible records and other genealogical sources.
