Born PA, 1759, lived there til 1766, moved to Mecklenburg County NC. In July 1776 he volunteered under Capt B? Alexander. Colonel Fifer and General Rutherford. - to guard the frontier at the head waters of the Catawba River. Fought the Cherokee Indians. His brother was wounded in 1779. John Wilson, a resident of Sumner County, being about 93 years of age grew up in the same area in Mecklenburg as John Sloan. Rec'd pension 1831 at $88.33/payperiod sent to.... ***** John Sloan of Sumner Co. Tn. was a Private in NC.
