    Wythe Co. Va. Will of David Sloan:
    In the name of god Amen, I David Sloan of the County of Wythe and State of Virginia being weake in body but of sound mind and disposing memory (for which I thank God) and calling to mind the uncertainty of human life & being desirous to dispose of all such wordly estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with do hereby make my last will & Testament in the manner and form following, that is to say:
    1st I desire that all my Just debts be payed & funeral expenses out of my estate after my decease.

    2nd After payment of my just debts and funeral expense I give and bequeath to my wife Sarah Sloan the plantation on which I now live lying on Red Creek together with all the farming utencils three cows out of my stock of cattle & one horse and saddle one third of all my stock of sheep and hoggs also all my kitchen and household furniture during her natural life and after her death I desire that the said plantation be sold and the money arising therefrom to be equally divided amonst my six youngest children (viz) Margaret, Samuel, David, Sarah, Mary, and William Sloan.

    3rd I desire that all my remaining stock of house and cattle to be sold immediately after my decease except a dark roan mare with colt which I give to my son William and the money arising therefrom to be equally divided among my six youngest children heretofore mentioned.

    4th All the rest of my estate both real & personal of whatsoever kind it may be not herein before described particurlary I desire may be equally divided amongst my several children herein mentioned which I give to hem their heirs executors administrators and assigns forever.

    And lastly I hereby constitute and appoint my three sons Samuel, David & William Sloan executors of this my last will & testament hereby revoking all other former wills or testaments by me heretorfore made. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twelth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eighteen hundred and eighteen. David Sloan

    This the last will & testament of David Sloan Decd was presented in court & proved by the oaths of James Graham, Thomas S. Pierce John Heisling the subscribing witnesses thereto & ordered to be recorded and on the motion of William Sloan one of the executors named in said will who entered into bond with Joel Pierce & John Graham his securities in the sum of $2000 conditoned as the law directs and took the oath required by law probate of the said will is granted him in due form have being issued to Samuel Sloan and David Sloan the other Executors named in said will to join in the probate thereof at any future date.
