John Lilly says:"Applying SAR records, (found too many errors in the DAR records), Bryant left home to join the Continental Army in 1776, and was discharged in 1778. He received a wound in the left hand. He applied for and received a pension due to his injuries. I know that he was still in Culpepper Virginia in 1780 & 1781 as a drover & teamster. I find him again in Nelson County tax rolls in 1792, with one horse, and by 1794 he has several slaves, and 2,000 acres of land."
