great aunt Osie Klepper Altom has the theory that Peter was married
three times. I'm not sure what she bases it on. However, if he
wasn't his son Barney M. was born out of wedlock, if marriage date
of 13 June 1813, (as stated in Peter's pension records) is correct.
The birth date of Barney M. is ascribed to be 12 Jan. 1813. Peter
was in the Army from Oct. 1812 to Feb. 1813 and then married
following summer, so; (1) Did he have 3 wives, (2) Did Catherine
Myers have child (Barney) out of wedlock and then Peter finally
married her five months later, If so why so long after child was
born?, (3) Did Peter give wrong year to whoever filled out his
    pension form for him?”

    Notes for ENOCH COX NELSON:
Enoch Cox Nelson was born 06-11-1835 in Scott Cnty VA to David and Jemima Nelson. Jemima Nelsons parents were David Cocke/Cox and Jemima Leece Cocke of Scott Cnty VA . According to the 1850 Hawkins Cnty TN Census he had 5 siblings listed, they are: Margaret b: 1820 m: Jacob Smiley in 1848, Odom C. b: 1827 m: Mary Wineger in 1849 and then Mary Barker in 1856, Merinda b: 1830 m: Alexander Helton, Martha b: 1833, David b: 1833. David and Jemima according to deeds and Church records may have moved from Scott Cnty. in around 1847 with there children. Before moving to Hawkins Cnty TN David bought a a peice of land in Big Poor Valley (Alum Wells) from Benjamin Looney Jr. (deed book 20-185) . I believe that David and Jemima both passed on somewhere between 1853 and 1855. The last deed David signed was March 31, 1853. An agreement between him and a Joel Gillenwaters(book 21-308) In Sept. 1856 (deed book 23-374) Marinda and and her spouse are buying land from Enoch . It appears to be paying a note on Davids land. The deed notes that David has died. It was at this time that Enoch with his wife Elizebeth moved with there son James to the Cumberland MT. Where they had 2 more children, Jacob and Mary Jane(1860 TN Census). Enoch not believing in slavery decided to take his young family north. Moving first to Kentucky ,then to IND where in 1861 Hellen Margaret was born . Then the family moved to Springfield ILL where in 1865 a boy Winfred was born then died as an infant and Amanda Sarah who was born in 1865. While the family lived in Springfield on Oct. 11, 1864 Enoch enlisted with Captain Whitteware Comapany H 2nd Regiment, IL Lt. Artillery. Description of Enoch on pension records was he was 5'4 and ½”, fair skinned, light eyes, and light hair. When Enoch was honorably discharged on July 29,1865 he weighed 79 pounds from being sick for several months at Fort Bruce, IL. After getting his health back he and his family started making there northern trek to Minnesota where Drs. said his health would improve. After reaching Minnesota one more daughter was born to Enoch and Elizebeth in 1868 Emma Kate was born in Young America MN. In April of 1869 the family moved 10 miles west of Hutchinson, then in 1873 into Hutchinson. In about 1873 James married (look below) and the family moved 18 mls. E of Stephen in Marshall Cnty. what is now known as Nelson Park. I will continue the family moves below with James and his wife Betsy..
