  • Note:
In the Gilmore family bible at Gilford, it says: "John Gilm ore left Ireland May 28, 1804" This may or may not be the s ame Gilmore.

NOTE In 1798 a John GILMORE married a Brigit FRENCH in Ind ia (recordspart of H.E.I.C.S.)

the will of his brother Eleazer Birch Gillmer - "....... th e sum of£100 which I leave will and bequest to my brother J ohn Gillmer and which my Executors may give to him by annua l instalments as they may judge prudent and should any par t of it be left, to be given to hischildren at his decease" . Sounds as if he had bad habits and wasunreliable! Mayb e he has been airbrushed out of the story. My hunch, proba bly quite wrong, is that he took over the Charter School fr om the Jacksons, thereby installing the Gilmores in Liscalg ot.
