Note: Lucille Chessmore's book about him states that he had 2 brothers and a sister Emily. It is possible that all 3 of them were older and had a different mother.

Note: potentially living with his sister Emily & her husband Winship Page during 1840 census in Upson County, Ga. He married in that county later that year. This sister had a daughter named Augusta. Winship Page was living in Upson County GA for 1840 census Georgia, UPSON, Roll 52 Book 1, Page 22a, District 470 (he follows James Page and Leonard Page) 2 males 5-10 [=William & James], 1 male 20-30 [=? Emily's brother Augustus would be 22], 1 male 30-40 [=Winship, 38], 2 females 5-10[=Elizabeth & ?], 1 female 20-30 [Emily would be 30] and slaves: 1 male under 10, 2 males 10-24, 1 female 24-36, and 2 females 36-55, 1 person was listed in agriculture
