William Wingfield was born in Virginia and died in Warren County Kentucky 1815-16. He married Mary Messer,born in Virginia.

On 17 Aug 1816, he sold 200 acres on the headwaters of Little Beaver Dam Creek. Sold to Angus McDonald.William Wingfield was born in Virginia and died in Warren County, Kentucky 1815-16. In the 1870 census of Pike Co., Arkansas, their youngest son, Charles, states that both his parents are of foreign birth and in the same census of 1880, he says that his mother was born in Germany. William Sr. and Mary Messer were probably married in Surry Co., North Carolina. No record has been found of this, but from the tax list there, we can establish the fact that Christian Messer was in Surry Co., North Carolina as early as 1771, at least ten years before William Wingfield Sr. is recorded as being there. It has not been proven how Mary Messer is related to Christian Messer, but the records in North Carolina show them always living near each other.
