  • Note:
    William Clarke Esq. was one of two Clarkes listed in the 1850 Griffiths Valuation in Meelick townland of Kilcolmanbane parish, Queen's county, Ireland. Thomas Clarke may have been a brother. A headstone in the Maryborough/Portlaoise cemetery indicates William was aged 90 at the time of his death in 1878.
    May also be the William Clarke of Rathleague whose wife Eliza had 5 children from 1837 onwards (see separate entry). I suspect that Eliza was a second wife, married after Alicia died.
