In that document Thomas is referred to as "my son-in-law" by John Logue. Thomas' bequest was Logue's "Book of Accounts" and a share in the service of "my mulatto Boy named Jacob" until he comes of age and is set free. Thomas Thompson, Jr. served as a Captain during the Revolutionary War. Although he did not live long enough to apply for a pension, the applications of other veterans, Orange County, North Carolina land and tax records, and North Carolina military records confirm his service during the period 1778-1781. Ella Graves Thompson's unpublished family history states, "Thomas Thompson, Jr., second son of Thomas and Ann, was a captain in the Revolution. Served at Guilford Court House. Married Margaret Logue."
