Text: Catherine (Oliver) Cooper born 1806 died 1870 married Charles B Oliver first- divorced no children- her mother Abigal Bobo was a witness to the divorce in the court records. Transcripts from court records reveal Charles Oliver was abusive and not a "Spirited" man, but a "Coward". He was reported as saying ,"I will strike her again if she lets the flies get in the milk." Catharine borrowed a horse from a neighbor to escape him and go back home to her parents. The court records were found by a P. Lawless in the library of MS College in Clinton, MS. Text: Catherine Willoughby filed a claim for a sorrel mare and large fat cow that were taken by General Davidson's calvary in December 1863 when they camped in Columbia, Mississippi on their way to Mobile, Alabama. Claim Number: 12389 Claim Date: 16 Mar 1872 Page: 1 Roll Number: 042 Collection Title: Southern Claims Commission The claim was disallowed, as it was determined Mrs. Willoughby was regarded as disloyal to the Union. Five of her sons joined the Confederate Army at the beginning of the War and served the entire war.

Mary Willoughby is the daughter of Rodolphus Willoughby and Catherine Cooper. Catherine Cooper is the daughter of John Cooper and Abigail Bobo. John and Abigail Cooper are also the parents of William Cooper, who is living next door to Mary Willoughby Hobbs on this census page. John Cooper came from KY to Marion County, Mississippi. Also on this page is Willliam Sistrunk, and his wife, Elizabeth Cooper, daughter of William Cooper. William Sistrunk is the son of Jacob Sistrunk, who is thought to have come through Kentucky as well.
