Note: He most likely met his first wife, Catherine Hartzell, at the Indian Cre ek Ref Ch where they were both members. After their marriage, he worked f or his father on the farm and in the saw mill, which his father had inheri ted from John Althouse, his father's father-in-law. The farm and saw mi ll were then devised to him by his father's Will in 1854.
Marriage record shows his name as Charles Swenk, but the Orphan's Court re cords following his death list him as Charles Schwenk, as do census record s. Charles (or Carl as he was sometimes known,) died intestate without e nough assets to cover his debts, forcing his wife and administrator of h is estate, Diana, to sell real estate and other items to cover those debt s. The sale of all the property of Charles A. Schwenk was made to the hig hest bidder, Samuel Hansell, for the amount of $8,498.83. By 1914 the far m, which had been 120 acres when it was inherited by John Hartzell from h is father, who then sold it to his son-in-law George Schwenk, father of Ch arles, was only 78 acres and was sold by Samuel Hansell to Froman Brothers .

Schwenk was born in Franconia township, Montgomery Count y, July 21, 1813, and was reared upon his father's farm. He chose the li fe of a farmer and became one of the leading agriculturists of that sectio n, owning a very large farm. His first matrimonial alliance was with Cath erine Hartzell, by whom he had one daughter, Lucy. After Catherine's demi se, he was joined in marriage with Maria Wampole. He was married a thi rd time to Diana Fossbenner, and the following offspring blessed their uni on: George F., a leading citizen of Lansdale, Pa.; Amanda (Nice) of Hatfie ld; Harry F.; and Charles F. Mr. Schwenk closed his eyes in final sleep, J anuary 6, 1874, aged sixty years, five months and sixteen days; and his wi fe, Diana, who was born March 29, 1830 and was a daughter of Samuel Fossbe nner, of East Rockhill township, Bucks County, died April 8, 1891, aged si xty-one years and nine days.
