Some say Ann was the sister of Lighthorse Harry Lee and aunt of Robert E. Lee. Others say she likely descends from Thomas Lee of Onslow County, North Carolina.

Ann belonged to Taylors Creek Methodist Church. Another source claims that Ann Lee was born 1753 in Westmoreland Co, Virginia and that she was "of" Black River Settlement, New Hanover, North Carolina.

In the 1827 Land Grants to Georgia Revolutionary War Soldiers, Robert Hendry a soldier in the war, was granted land. Robert was from Liberty County. He was listed "fortunate #229". Draw was Lee, and the date granted was not until after his death on 12/15/1831.

Will of Ann Lee Hendry - page one Will of Ann Lee Hendry - page 2
The will of Ann Hendry was made February 3, 1834 and was probated in the Liberty County Ordinary's Court May 14, 1835. It stated:

"State of Georgia, Liberty County--In the name of God, Amen. I, Ann Hendry, of the State and County aforesaid, being very sick and weak of body but of perfect and sound mind and memory, Do make and ordain the following as my last will and testament.

"1st. I give and bequeath unto my daughters, Elizabeth Ann and Mary, the lot of land drawn by me in the late Land Lottery in the County of Cherokee, together with all the personal property of which I may be sized in my own right at my decease of every kind whatsoever, to be shared by them equally, to them and their heirs forever.

"2nd. It is my will that the fractional lot lately drawn to my name should be sold by my executor and divided equally among my children which are now living, and the children of those which are dead, each family of orphans of my deceased children to have a part equal to my children which are living.

"And lastly, I appoint my son, Robert Hendry, executor of this my last will and testament."

Witnesses: Eli H. Hendry, Andrew Floyd, and Jackson Driggers

The above information was obtained from the Florida State Archives Department. It was a Revised Second Edition of JOHN AND WILLIAM SONS OF ROBERT HENDRY. The information was compiled by Spessard Stone in 1988.

Note: Cherokee Land Lottery of 1838 shows a William Spruill having No. 211, 7th District, 3rd Section, Cherokee. Showing residence of "Gitten's" and Fayette Co (GA? or NC?) Doesn't list which state - GA? If so, then Ann Lee Hendry, wife of Robert Hendry RSA b.1752, obtained land in the same lottery in the same area. Interesting. Also note: New Hanover County is now Pender County, North Carolina (1993).
