    "Monroe Hodges, son of Jesse, and Barney Prine of Linn co, went to eastern Ore right after 1870. They founded the town of Prineville. About half of Prineville is built on Monroe Hodges homestead claim."

    History of Central Oregon 1905 p 778 Monroe Hodges (biog) A farmer and stockman of Crook county... he
    resides at present time in Prineville. His birth occured in Allen Co, Ohio on Dec 18, 1833, his parents being Monroe and Catherine (Stanley) Hodges....Our subject drove an ox-team across the plains from Missouri, Platte county, to Benton Co, Oregon, being then but fourteen years of age... went to the mines at Jacksonville, for a year continued farming on home place until 1871... in 1873 built the first Hotel and livery stable in Prineville...platted town of Prineville in 1876....On January 13, 1855 Mr Hodges married Rhoda Wilson, who was born in Missouri on March 6, 1837...crossed plains with her father in 1853... Mrs
    Hodges died July 12, 1898.
