Our Family is an American Melting Pot, combining early New England lines with more recent immigrants from Norway, Sweden, and Bohemia (now Czech Republic). Major New England lines include: Descendants of Thomas, Robert, Andrew and Zachary Sanford of Milford, Hartford and Saybrook, Connecticut; Descendants of John Sanford of Rhode Island; Descendants of Richard Platt of Milford; and many families from Fairfield County, Connecticut

  • ID: I9083
  • Name: Thomas WHEELER
  • Sex: M
  • Christening: 9 APR 1620 Cranfield, Bedfordshire, England 1
  • Death: 24 DEC 1704 in Concord, Middlesex County, MA 1
  • _UID: AF5C956DD0859343AC88ADE15DCFBDAE9127
  • Note:
There is some confusion over the correct baptismal date. Jacobus first used 8 April 1620, and corrected it to 8 December 1621; Threlfall uses 9 April 1620. One is probably the baptismal date for Thomas, son of Thomas and Ann Wheeler; the other is the baptismal date for Thomas' younger half-brother Thomas, son of Thomas Wheeler the elder and Rebecca.
Thomas married (1) Sarah (___). Threlfall calls her Sarah Merriam, daughter of Joseph & Sarah (Goldstone) Merriam; Torrey doubts that she was a Merriam; the Ackley/Bosworth genealogy calls her simply Sarah (___). The Wheeler genealogy calls her Sarah Meriam, but gives only her death date.
Thomas and Sarah had ten children, according to Threlfall and Ackley/Bosworth; Jacobus lists names and dates for six born at Concord. The Wheeler genealogy names ten children of this marriage.
Thomas married (2) Sarah (Beers) Stearns; they had two (per Threlfall) or three (per Ackley/Bosworth) children. The Wheeler genealogy names one child of the second marriage.
Thomas remained at Concord. At the births of his children, Thomas is called "Sr." to distinguish him from Thomas (b. 1633) son of George Wheeler. Called Sergeant in 1665 and in death records of himself and his first wife.
Thomas inherited the Concord property from his father. He was called "eldest son" in his mother's will.
