Name: Thomas HARRIS
Birth: ABT 1702 in Wethersfield, Hartford County, CT 1
Death: 1774 in Wethersfield, Hartford County, CT 1
Stiles estimated that Thomas was born in 1695, probably in Glastonbury, where his father was residing at that time. Jacobus estimated his birth as about 1702, based on the assumption that Walter Harris married Mary Hollister about 1701. Harris says that marriage probably occurred several years before that date, but the evidence shows only that it occurred between 1694 and 1701.

Both Stiles and Jacobus agree that Thomas died at Wethersfield in 1774, Stiles saying "Spring of 1774."
On 5 May 1724 Thomas Harris of Wethersfield was chosen as guardian by his younger brother Daniel.
On 22 July 1724 Thomas bought 53 acres in Middletown. In July 1726 he traded this property to Ziba Tryon for a parcel of land in Wethersfield. On 24 August 1724, Thomas had purchased a parcel with a house at Wethersfield from John Wiard. During March 1726 he reconveyed to John's widow, Phebe Wiard.
Harris says that these transactions show that by 1724 Thomas Harris, a young single man, had acquired substantial means, which suggests that he was older than Jacobus estimated.
Thomas was named as son of Widow Mary Blinn in a deed dated 22 April 1740.
Thomas bought or sold land in Wethersfield 87 times between 1724 and 1774. In 1755 he built a house on South Hill which was still standing in 1904. When Stiles wrote, South Hill was known as "Harriss Hill."
In June 1752 Hezekiah Hart, Thomas Harris and Elisha Williams Jr. witnessed a codicil to the 1750 will of William2 (Peter1) Blinn of Wethersfield.
In 1759 William4 Blinn (William2) chose Thomas Harris as his guardian, but it was Abraham Harris who accepted the guardianship.
In April 1758 Jacob Hollister, the 15-year-old son of Thomas' cousin Jonathan Hollister, chose Thomas as his guardian. In September 1759 Thomas desired to be freed from Jacob's guardianship, and his mother Susannah Hollister was allowed to assume the responsibility.
The will of Thomas Harris of Wethersfield is dated 14 December 1773. It mentions sons Hosea and Thomas; daughters Sarah Robbins, Anne Willard, Mehitabel Robbins; graddaughter Mehitabel Robbins, only child of daughter Mehitabel. The estated was appraised at L885.3s.5d.
