Mary Lois (Weatherly) Sandberg Obituary

Mary Lois (Weatherly) Sandberg February 13, 1944 to September 16, 2007 Beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt and good friend went to be with the Lord on September 16, 2007 at the age of 63 after a gallant battle with pancreatic cancer. She resided in Long Beach with her husband of 35 years, Stephen. Mary was born in Pomona, California, the youngest of six, to Sam and Agnes Weatherly, also long time residents of Long Beach. Mary with h er husband Stephen has been an active member of the Long Beach community for over 40 years. They were involved with the St. Mary's Hospice Foundation and the Woman to Woman program with the Bayshore Community Congregational Church. Mary and Steve were very active in their church and gave their support to the church and all its programs. Mary is survived by her loving husband, Stephen; sons, David O'Rourke (Tracey) and John Sandburg (Irene); and daughter, Susan Ramirez (Ynacio). Her sister, Sue Vandervelde ( Edward); brothers, Paul (Susan), James (Judi) and Larry also mourn her passing. She was blessed with many nieces, nephews and lifelong cherished friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Evelyn Bigler. A memorial service will be held at the Bayshore Community Congregational Church, 5100 The Toledo, Long Beach at 11am on Saturday, September 22nd. Mary loved traveling with her family. She and her husband took their children and grandchildren on many wonderful trips. Mary was an avid world cruiser and skilled sailor who had tremendous respect for her captain. She was an incredible, special person who made a lasting imprint into the hearts of everyone she touched.
