... I can now read the information you sent. Accordingly, I will now use your data and check it against my file, advising you of any things that do not match,or added information I might have.
To save time I will start with the 6th. generation, Louis Bourie, assuming the older is correct since it is in book form at Fort Wayne.
Louis B. Bourie : B added; married 13 October 1798, at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Detroit, Michigan. Was in Indiana as early as 1786; moved to Ft Wayne, Indiana, in 1801, when he received a license to trade with the Pottawatomie Indians at Cour de Cerf (Elks Heart in French) ,on the Elkhart River. Since the Elkhart flows through both Elkhart city and Ligonier town, the exact trading area is not known. He did have a trading post at Ligonier on the bank of the Elkhart River near the Rochester Bridge on the East side of town. ...
