Mrs. Elsie Augusta "Gussie" (Lockard) Huff, 85, of 14528 Barkdoll Road, Hagerstown, Md., entered into eternal rest Monday, Jan. 18, 2010, at her home.
Born July 27, 1924, in Robertsdale, Pa., she was the daughter of the late George Sr. and Adaline (Roche) Lockard.
Mrs. Huff was a graduate of Robertsdale High School with the class of 1942.
She and her late husband, Mr. Robert Wilson Huff, were married Dec. 4, 1943, in Hagerstown. They moved to their present residence in 1954. Mr. Huff died April 19, 1993.
Mrs. Huff was employed as an engineering supervisor at Landis Tool Co., Waynesboro, for 36 years. She retired in 1990. She was previously employed at South Mountain Restoration Center, South Mountain, Pa., and Waynesboro Knitting Mill.
She was a member of Ringgold Church of Christ, where she was actively involved in all ministries of the church, having taught the fifth-grade Sunday school class for 17 years and was a member of the Senior Saints Group. She also volunteered at Waynesboro Daycare Thrift Shop.
Mrs. Huff enjoyed knitting, reading and time spent taking care of her family.
She is survived by one son, Rodney L. Huff and wife, Pamela of South Mountain; four granddaughters, Natalie Nuckels and husband, Randy of Waynesboro, Melissa Cory and husband, Shane of Stafford, Va., Raquel Peiffer and husband, Randy of Fairfield, Pa., and Paula Kriner and husband, Rodney of Williamsport, Md.; two stepgrandchildren, Daniel Mentzer III and his wife, Tina, and Kimberly Berthidume, both of Waynesboro; 13 great-grandchildren, Alison, Adam, Wyatt and Madison Nuckels, Hunter, Ethan and Tanner Cory, Miranda and Makensy Peiffer, Kaelii and Regan Stout, and Cole Kriner; four stepgreat-grandchildren, Cortney, Kaitlyn and Wrennis Stull, and Bryan Mentzer; and one-great-great-grandson, Garrett Baylor.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Noah Kriner; and three sisters, Florean Stevenson, Mildred Troy and Ruth Curry; five brothers, Homer Lockard, Wilbert Lockard, George Lockard Jr., Dewayne Lockard and Deweese Lockard.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 22, 2010, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with the Rev. Donald E. Conley officiating. Burial will follow in Ringgold Cemetery, Ringgold, Md.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
