"Clara N. Jenkins Homemaker, dog breeder, former Greif employee Clara Nellie Jenkins, 87, formerly of Three Springs, R.D., died at 5:20 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, 1998, at Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia, where she had been residing. Born June 1, 1910, in Cromwell Township, Huntingdon County, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Rhoda (Leonard) Whitsel. She was married to Owen E. Jenkins on Feb. 2, 1932. Mr. Jenkins died June 27, 1985. Surviving are four children: Natha Latshaw of Waynesboro, Thomas Jenkins and Sue E. Jenkins, both of Three Springs, R.D., and Owen E. "Edward" Jenkins, Carlisle; 11 grandchildren, including granddaughters Penny McClure, of Three Springs, R.D., and Denise Hoffman, Bellefonte, who were reared in the Jenkins home; 21 great-grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Beulah Park, of McVeytown. Four brothers and two sisters are deceased. Mrs. Jenkins was of the Protestant faith. In addition to being a homemaker, she was last employed at L. Greif Bros. Manufactoring Inc., Mount Union, where she had worked for 14 years. She also raised miniature American Eskimo dogs and loved crocheting and gardening. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 21, at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia, with Pastor Jim MacQuarrie officiating. Interment will be in the Monroe Valley Cemetery, Three Springs, R.D. Friends may call at the funeral home today (Friday), from 7-9 p.m., and Saturday, from 9 a.m. until the hour of the services." [The Daily News]
