On Oct. 25, 1884, Wabash College played the first intercollegiate football game in the state's history and defeated Butler University 4-0 at Indianapolis Baseball Park. Jesse Taber kicked four goals and student-coach Edwin R. Taber guided the school to its first win.
LOGANSPORT PHAROS-REPORTER WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 16, 1916 Word was recelved In Logansport this morning announcing the death of Edwin H. Tabor, at his home, in North Yakima, Wash. Death comes a sudden shock to his local relatives and cause of death is unknown. Deceased was fifty-one years old and was born in Logansport. About, twenty years ago he went west where he had been engaged in the mining and fruit business, he is survived by three brothers: Cyrus AL Taber of Indianapolis; Graham P. Tabor, who resides in Kansas, and Jesse Taber of this city. One sister, Miss Julie Taber, of this city, also survives. The remains will leave North Yakima some time tonight and is expected to reach Logansport Sunday or Monday, when the funeral arrangements will be announced.
