In May, 1934, Morrell Dozier, Jay Clark, Horce, and Levie Sirmon called for a Reunion of Daniel Dozier descendants to meet at the Town of Dozier, near the Dozier Old Home Place, and where Daniel Dozier lived his married life, and raised his fifteen children.
The response to this call was enthusiastic, and those present decided to have these meetings each year on the 4th Wednesday in July. This has prevailed to date.
At first meeting a committee on necrology was appointed, with myself as chairman. We began at once to get together data by correspondance, and otherwise, and by constant effort of all concerned have complied the enclosed records.
Some records are incomplete. A few families are lost. Some recent data is not included; but in the main this is a correct record of the families of the twelve tribes,--Descendants of Daniel Dozier.
Especially, are we indebted to Morgan D. Jones, whose diligence twenty years ago in delving into county records of South Carolina, and Georgia, developed the family history and laid the foundation for this "Family Tree."
To the 36 living grand-children, we dedicate this work, trusting that it will be appreciated, and preserved by coming generations, with the same love and interest, with which it has been accomplished.
