  • Note:
History and family tales state that the Blackmore family was very well off in Maryland, infact they once owned the land where the White house stands today, the family leased the land to the government on a 99 years lease, when that expired the family sent lawyers to Washington D.C. to renew it, well Washington bought out the lawyers causing the family too go bankrupt.
    -David E. Blackmore

according to a letter from a Mr. T Barry Gotham to my grandfather GG Blackmore dated 1927..." the Sun of New York made a comprehensive list of all the Blackmores in the United States to aid the Blackm ore Family in the original William Blackmore Suit against the US Governtment. William Blackmore owned the land that the US Capital (sic?) stand on and at the time that the District of Columbia was for med from the 3 states, his land was leased by the Government." --It was published about the year 1901--

    "Blackmore Millions".
It is a thin volume of about 50 or so pages written by Clyde A. Everhart that chronicles the history of the Blackmore claim against the federal government for land in Washington, D.C. It also has a br ief tree of some of the Blackmores in western Pa.

Note: This is a compilation of many people's work including my own. Also note that the Truitt and Williams lines do not directly relate to my Tree. I'm just interested in trying to determine the relationship between the Truitts and Williams that married into the family.
