Name: Seth MOORE
Birth: ABT 1740 in VA
Death: 1807 in Wilkes Co, GA
Seth died in 1807 in Wilkes County, GA. My research is good back to that point and you may have solved a frustrating problem for me (my brick wall for the past few years). I feel very strongly that he is the son of Thomas Moore and Mary Farrar, but, as yet, have no proof. A cousin has done the DNA thing and we are definitely linked to Thomas but no hard evidence that he is the son or just in the line. Have you documented the Virginia birth?...or that Thomas' son Seth married Mary Owen?
We also know that they were in Person Co, NC, around Tar River ...but have not been able to pin down the years.
The wife of Charles Brown Winstead is definitely Sarah Moore, however her father was not Joseph Moore. That was an early hypothesis that I gave to Martha Winstead some years ago. Considerable further research indicates that her parents were Seth Moore and Mary Owen. Seth Moore was a neighbor of the Winsteads in Caswell County during the 1780s and moved to Wilkes County, GA where he died leaving a will in 1807. In his will he names Sarah Winsted (sp) as a daughter. Additionally, the naming patterns for the children of Charles Brown and Sarah Winstead include Seth M. Winstead.
Seth Moore was born c 1740-5 in Virginia, probably Henrico County, the son of Thomas Moore and Mary Farrar. Mary Farrar was the daughter of George Farrar and Judith Jefferson. Judith Jefferson, the aunt of President Thomas Jefferson, was born 30 August 1698 in Henrico County, the daughter of Thomas Jefferson and Mary Field. The obituary of one of the Moores in Wilkes County, GA, I believe Seth, also mentions their cousin President Jefferson.
