Mary White was called Polly. She was probably named for Polly Jones Blevi
ns...wife of Old Dick Blevins. Polly Blevins was Mary White's Aunt, sist
er to James Jones. Polly said in her reenrollment papers that she was al
so known as Nancy Ward. This makes me wonder if Polly Jones Blevins was n
ot named for the famous Cherokee woman of peace, Nancy Ward. Elizabeth Jo
nes said she was also know as Elizabeth Wilkerson. This is the name of Ja
mes Jones' mother.

Polly White is on the 1890 Cherokee Indian Census. She lives near Sulph
ur Bend. She said she was 68 years old. Sherlyn Greaves said that the o
ld timers in Ok. said where Polly White went Mary Standridge Jones wen
t. Mary STandridge Jones is alive in 1870. She can not be located in A
r. or MO. I think Polly White and Mary Standridge are in Indian Territo
ry in 1870. Elizabeth Hampton is still in Mo. in 1880. I can not find ma
ny of the Frazier family in 1870 or 1880. I think they are in Indian Terri
tory, also. Squire and Rhoda Blevins family are completely absent from t
he 1870 U S census. I think they are over near Sulphur Bend, also. B
ut by 1880, all Rhoda and Squire's living children are back in Carroll C
o. Ar. living near Denver, Omaha, and Bear Creek, AR.

During the civil War, I think mary White lived in southern MO. or
northwest OK...near Sulphur Bend. Josiah said their house
was burned and they had to go live at a military base. It could
have been near Springfield, Mo. or in I T. He said he never had
any shoes until he was 10 or 12 years old. He said during the
war they all took small pox. Some of the children may have died
because some did die during the war. he said his mother wrapped
their feet with rags so they could walk. they surely had a very
hard existence, but presevered so more Whites are on the earth
today. If Mary had given up, many descendents would not have
been born. William left her early in the war to go join up with the
army. they don't know which one...but I would guess Union since
some of his brothers served the north. Anyway, he was killed
before he even got to join a unit.

m. C. and Mattie Jane. His first wife was ??? (maybe Marinda) Huckleb
y. His second wife was Lillie ARmstrong , and his 3rd wife was the wido
w, of Jack Jones (Martin Jackson Jones)Mary Susan Carpenter Jones. Andy H
ampton had 5 children previous to his marriage. (so one can see that we st
ill have one child missing, surely they died).

Emily Blevins was once the wife of Buck Hampton (this is Henderson as I fo
und the marriage in Boone Co. AR.) and their daughter is Alabama Hampto
n. (She is on the 1880 Boone Co. Census Ar. livng with ELizabeth Cary. E
lizabeth is her sister). Emily Blevins is a white woman.

Sarah Blaylock is the daughter of Martin Jones, son of James JOnes. Jam
es JOnes wife was Mary Standridge. She was a white woman. James Jon
es was living in Carroll Co. Ar. 15 years before he died. Betsy Jones w
as James Jones daughter. Betsy married Andy Hampton. he was a white man.
He had no family previous to his marriage to Betsy.

Polly married William White. He had no family before this marriag
e. He is dead.

Then Sherlyn says....Polly married Ben Hurley...but I think she is confus
ed and it should say Catherine married Ben Hurley. (Catherine would be Rh
oda Catherine JOnes, daughter of William Jones and Sarah Margaret Blevins
.) We know from 1890 Cherokee Census that Catherine was then marri
ed to a John J. Smith and had 3 chidlren, Montezuma Smith, John Smith a
nd Eliza Smith, listed with her and John. They are on the 1890 Indian Ter
r. census also with Mary Jane White Herod Smith Sellers. (I think the Smi
th Mary Jane was married to is the same as the one Catherine is marri
ed to or his brother). Catherine Hurley has one child..Jansy. S
he is 15 or 16 and is married but they do not know who she married. Th
ey say Catherine Hurley is about 40 years of age. (I have found his na
me on the 1900 Cherokee Census...Andrew Mathis. Rhoda Smith is living wi
th them).

Then the notes say...Polly White's first husband was Jimmy Jones. (th
is is Mary Jane White, Polly white's daughter). He had no children previo
us to this marriage. Margaret JOnes is the daughtef of Polly White...s
he is a HALF SISTER to Josiah White (What does this mean? Is Josiah Whi
te not a child of Wm White?)

James E. White married a White woman. (He married Mary A. Hampton Frazier
). She had a family previous to this marriage: the oldest is Eli Frazie
r, then Susan, and Enoch Frazier. Then James E. White has 2 children by M
ary A. Frazier White: William and Josiah White. (they are with him in 18
90 I. T. Census).

Adeline Jones is the daughter of William Jones and granddaughter of Jam
es Jones. She married Josiah Herrod, a white man. She had no family prev
ious to this marriage. These are the children she names for Delema Adeli
ne Jones Herrod: Joseph, Elizabeth, and William. They are 21, 14, a
nd 16 respectfully.

Thomas JOnes is the son of Wm Jones and grandson of James Jones. He marri
ed Anna Hampton. She had no children previous to this marriage. THOMAS JO
NES IS A HALF BROTHER TO EMILY JONES. I KNEW THOMAS JONES' MOTHER SALL

). Thomas Byrd is listed as such on the 1850 census. Sarah and Thomas a
re living in Carroll Co. Ar. with Sq. and Rhoda. William Jones lives ne
xt door with his parents and two kids...Martin Jackson Jones and Delema Ad
eline Jones. Sarah is listed with the last name of Gregg or Grigg. She h
as not husband. Thomas is listed as her child. I personally do not beli
eve that Wm. Jones is his father...only my opinion. Betty)

Ruth Atchison is the granddaughter of William Jones. Daughter of Joseph He
rrod, a white man. Joseph Herod had not children living at the time of h
is marriage to Adeline Jones. (I think he had a child, Green, but that ch
ild died. As Green is iwth him 1860, Carroll Co. AR Census). (The Herod M
ary Jane White married I do not think is Josiah as Mary Jane's Joel Eli Ha
rod was born before, Josiah Harod married Delema Jones).

Ruth Atchison's brothers and sisters are: Joseph, Eliza, William, Isabel
l. Catherine Hurley is my brother William's daughter. She was once marri
ed to Ben Hurley. Hurley was a white man.
