Note: The author provides this information, apparently for completeness, which she extracted from "Scandinavian Immigrants in New York, 1630-1674", by John O. Evjens and originally published in 1916. However, she believes that Evjens erred in equating the female passenger aboard the Vergulde Bever, Grietgen Cristaens, with the male individual "Christiaen Christiaense" [other spellings noted], whose presence in New Netherlands was [first?] noted as early as June 1671. If, indeed, the given name of this individual in the original records is Grietgen vs. Crietgen, the association of this passenger with Christiaan Christianse is likely in error.
Text: [Said to have]...sailed to New Netherland as a boy on de Vergulde Bever (The Guilded Beaver), 25 April 1659. He arrived shortly before 9 August 1659 when his passage was paid by Jeremias van Rensselaer...[The passenger referred to was listed as Grietgen Cristaens.]

Note: Information on Christian Christians listed under the heading: Crietgen Christians. However, the author of an in-depth study ("The Family of Ysbrants Elderz of Rensselaerswyck", NYGBR, Vo. 128, No. 3, July 1997 and Vol. 128, No. 4, October 1997) of the family of Christian's wives believes that Evjens erred in equating the female passenger aboard the Vergulde Bever, Grietgen Cristaens, with the male individual "Christiaen Christiaense" [other spellings noted], whose presence in New Netherlands was [first?] noted as early as June 1671.
