Note: From someone who, as a child, knew "Cotton" Roberts well: ""Cotton" as we knew him, was a very highly respected man in the small little village of Damar, Kansas. He had six sons and one daughter. I grew up being the friends of every one of the Roberts boys. We spent many an hour playing baseball at the Damer baseball diamond, listening for the St Joseph Catholic church bell to ring the Angelus at 12:00 noon that ended every sandlot baseball game we played in that ballpark. "Cotton" become my suragate step father after my own father died when I was 9 years of age. He became our little league baseball coach adding a number of sons to the starting lineup. He then moved on with us to American Legion baseball. Many an hour I have spent talking and listening to this man. He was an inspriation to me." 1
